Hydraulic system is essential to forklift application, it works by using pressurized fluid to power the engine, hydraulic power is able to convert a small amount of liquid to a large amount of power. Seven Ocean Hydraulics supplies transmission control valves for internal-combustion electro-control shift forklift vehicles.

In most cases, the tank, which holds the hydraulic fluid, is integrated into the frame of the vehicle. Other components of the forklift hydraulic system include the pump, the control valve, the relief valve, and the return line.

Most forklifts use gear pump and produces a constant flow of fluid to supply the hydraulic control valve. The hydraulic control valve starts and stops the direction of fluid and controls where the fluid goes using spools to the desired actuator. The relief valve acts as a safety valve to protect the hydraulic system from too much hydraulic pressure. Finally the return line which returns the fluid back to the tank and completes the hydraulic system cycle.
